about

Available in the UK through Worried Songs : worriedsongs.bandcamp.com/merch

"French American Primitive guitar? Sure! Transmitted to us from Paris, Julian Ledru’s playing is sparkling and crisp, whether on guitar or banjo (and occasional synth). He often brings to mind the Windham Hill masters of days gone by—but at least part of his inspiration for White Oak Blues comes from a fairly distant source: Daniel Johnston. Not that Ledru sounds like Johnston, really, but his touching elegy for the late singer-songwriter, “Daniel Variations,” conjures up that fragile spirit."
Aquarium Drunkard

» ///// Rough translation: "Julien Ledru manages in the most touching way to diffuse his melodic waves without any pretension, if not that of hitting his targets in the heart. Conducive to melancholy reverie, his music spreads insidiously in every nook and cranny, comes to lodge where we do not expect it and the thread of the musical tracks flows slowly after a first listening which will not be enough to reveal all the beauty and depth of the object."
Telescope

» ///// Rough translation: "On White Oak Blues as well as Along the Road I Had Traveled, the melodies are sculpted with precision and clarity, without any other kind of artifice. Perhaps by choosing to reduce his music to the essentials, perhaps simply because his technique limits him, the result is the same. A luminous and peaceful melodic thread, able to let the mind wander."
XSilence

» ///// Rough translation: "There are heartbreaking moments during this record, loving inflections that we have in our breviary, like the flowers of the peaks that we keep in a herbarium, a veritable book of poetry of our dream nature."

///// Rough translation: "White Oak Blues has a marvelous shyness, an absolute discretion that could make it go unnoticed. It is music that does not resist and that gives itself, that pushes to a form of surrender and letting go."
